Mitsubishi Electric’s latest innovations showcase compact design and functionality

2018-09-24

Mitsubishi Electric, a leader in air conditioning reliability, energy efficiency, and performance in the tough Australian environment has announced a new air conditioning cassette, Mini VRF with reduced height and the next-generation of City Multi Variable Refrigerant Flow to its collection ahead of Summer 2018.

  • Compact cassette designed to fit between standard 450mm centred joists
  • New single-fan City Multi unit proves ideal for discreet installations
  • Next-generation of Variable Refrigerant Flow delivers improvements in performance, noise levels reduced footprint

The new air conditioning products feature improved essential functions and energy-saving requirements to make a positive impact on the cost of staying cool as the heat climbs.

“We continue to improve air conditioning quality and offer customers next- generation solutions through these new products. The balance between sleek style, compact design and improved performance are definitely highlights this year,” said Atesh Mani, National Product Manager, Mitsubishi Electric Australia.

Below is an outline of Mitsubishi Electric’s new 2018 line up for consideration.

Compact Ceiling Cassette

Perfect for smaller locations with a clean, sleek design, the MLZ-KP series ceiling mounted air conditioning unit is ideal for rooms where wall space is not available for mounted air conditioners.

MLZ-KP 1-way flow ceiling cassette

“This is likely to be popular amongst inner-city Australians who own new-build apartments, offices or restaurants with a clean design. It’s perfect for applications where walls that can’t be penetrated for refrigerant pipework and electrical work, such as those made from glass, stone or concrete, or in heritage listed buildings” said Atesh.

Other feature highlights include:

  • Horizontal airflow. The new airflow control reduces that uncomfortable drafty feeling with the introduction of a horizontal airflow that spreads across the ceiling. The ideal airflow for offices and restaurants.
  • Compact design. The unit is designed to fit between standard 450mm centred joists and the 185mm high slim body design enables installation in restricted ceiling spaces. (Dimensions: 185mm high x 1102mm wide x 360mm deep).

Single-fan City Multi

Mitsubishi Electric has launched new single-fan air conditioning units to offer the market all of the benefits of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) in the company’s smallest ever City Multi chassis.

Mini-VRF PUMY-SP

Known as mini-VRF, these systems provide multi-room heating or cooling for projects under 20kW and offer better efficiency, flexibility and controllability when compared to multi-split systems.

In today’s property developments where noise, location and building design aesthetics pose a challenge, the new PUMY-SP with its reduced height (less than a metre), is a highly attractive option.

“Developers can mix and match different indoor units from our M Series, Mr Slim and City Multi VRF range, including our stylish new wall mounted units to provide complete design flexibility. The reduced height of unit means it will blend into its surroundings and in particular balcony installations.” said Atesh.

Other feature highlights include:

  • Lightweight and compact in size. This is a 27% reduction in height and 25% reduction in weight, allowing it to be installed in locations where the unit is required to be unobtrusive, such as balconies.
  • Convenience of mixing and matching units. Connect City Multi, M series or Mr Slim indoor units, depending on the application. Design the perfect air conditioning system utilising combinations of different capacities and types including wall mounted, floor standing, ceiling cassette, bulkhead and ducted units.
  • Accessible connection. The outdoor unit allows piping from any four directions; front, back, bottom, or right. This enables easier horizontal connection for collective layout.
  • Super quiet mode1 . Noise level can be reduced up to 10dB(A). This allows you to operate the unit at night in a residential zone.

Next-generation of Variable Refrigerant Flow

Mitsubishi Electric has launched the next-generation of VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning with the new City Multi YNW to offer the market a system that delivers ultra-quiet noise levels, an increased performance and a reduced footprint. The new structural design has a four-sided heat exchanger design and improved core components, such as compressor and fan, significantly improving energy-saving performance.

Other feature highlights include:

  • Increased efficiency. Compared to the existing models, all the single modules in YNW Series have an improved Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER).
  • Quieter noise setting. The low-noise mode which conventionally only had one pattern has been increased to four patterns so that a mode can be selected from a total of five patterns.
  • Four-sided heat exchanger. On the conventional models, a U-shaped heat exchanger was installed over the rear surface. In the new model, the four-sided heat exchanger is mounted on the upper part of the module near the fan. This allows air to be taken in effectively increasing the heat exchanger efficiency.
  • Increased capacity for single module. Single modules of up to 56kW have been added to the R2-Series. Single modules are smaller, with L modules replacing the EP400 and P450 modules, reducing installation space by approximately 29%.
  • Two-pipe heat recovery option. The unique City Multi heat recovery two-pipe option also allows for phased installation, meaning that the cooling and heating system can be installed around a project build, with individual sections commissioned as required.

Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Dealers are trained to assist Australians to choose the right air conditioning system or refrigerator for their home. A list of these dealers can be found at www.mitsubishielectric.com.au.

1Capacity reduction differs by mode setting. PAC-SC36NA-E is required to activate Super Quiet mode by external input.
